YOUTH .. Self Preservation Drug and Alcohol Program
The Self Preservation Program runs over (1) day. The program consists of a power
point presentation, spokespeople and interactive activities that incorporate discussions
relating to acceptable behaviour in public and on licensed premises, binge drinking which
effect health, motor safety, abusive behaviour, alcohol and the effects on the body, mind,
and relationships, the liquor laws and repercussions.
RSA PROJECT AIMS:
* To ensure awareness that with the right to consume alcohol comes responsibilities to
themselves, hospitality staff and the public
* Awareness of the laws governing the sale and consumption of alcohol
* To ensure awareness of the penalties involved when laws are breached
* Provide awareness of standard drinks, binge drinking and drink spiking
* To provide an extended base of RSA compliant students prior to entering the Industry
* To provide information to help future consumers make more informed decisions about
their responsibilities and behavior in reference to their consumption of alcohol
* To provide a useful tool (RSA certificate) for all students who are about to enter the
workforce and / or go on to further study
* To educate people on addressing behavior in and around licensed premises
Studies have shown that Alcohol play a huge role in the high levels of crime, vehicle
accidents and unacceptable social behaviour in communities both large and small.
SPP Pilot Program, launched by the Caxton St Precinct Liquor Accord
at Kelvin Grove on the 10/03/2009.
